Children & Families

One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.
Psalm 145:4

Families

We Are Glad You Are Here

At St. Peter’s, children are full participants in the life of the Church. We are a multigenerational parish where faith is shared gently, faithfully, and together.

Children are always welcome in church. We believe even the youngest among us learn the rhythms of faith by being present - hearing Scripture, joining in prayer, and coming forward for the Eucharist.

You may see children coloring quietly in the soft play area, standing on pews to see better, or asking whispered questions. These are signs of life, and they are welcome here.

Little Lights Children’s Program

Little Lights is our joyful Sunday gathering for children, offered during the 10:00 a.m. service on the first Sunday of each month.

Children begin the service in church with their families. During the readings and sermon, they are invited to join us in the downstairs Parish Hall for a time of Gospel story, simple prayer, and wonder. They return to share the Peace and celebrate the Eucharist with their families and the congregation.

Little Lights is designed especially for young children, and older elementary students (3rd grade +) are welcome to serve as helpers.

Little Lights Children's Church Program

Growing in Faith Together

We believe faith is formed across generations - as one generation praises God's works to another. Faith at St. Peter’s is not confined to one hour on Sunday. Throughout the year, children participate in the life of the parish through:

  • Christmas Pageant

  • Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner

  • Psalm Sunday procession

  • Blessing of the Animals

  • Blessing of the Backpacks

  • All Saints’ remembrance

  • Serving as acolytes, lectors, or other important roles as they grow

Holy Baptism is the sacramental beginning of the Christian life. We are honored to baptize children and adults throughout the year. More information can be found under the “Worship” tab.

During worship, youth in grades 3 -12 are encouraged to serve as acolytes, lectors (readers), and intercessors (leading prayers). They are also welcome to assist with our Little Lights children’s program.

Confirmation preparation is typically offered every other year for 8th and 9th graders.

If you are interested in any of these offerings or would like to learn more about what they mean, we would be glad to speak with you. Please contact the church office: office@stpetersweston.org.
