Youth

Jesus as a Teenager?!

"...When he was twelve years old...they found him in the Temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers...'Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?'...Jesus increased in wisdom and in years, and in divine human favor."
Luke 2:42-51a

The aim of Youth Ministry at St. Peter's Church is to help young people deepen their relationship to Jesus Christ. Through regular programs and worship, growing relationships with teens and faithful adults in the parish and elsewhere, and wholesome fun, youth are encouraged to learn to pray and to connect their faith in life-giving ways to their own lives and to the world around them.

Our program year begins in mid-September, with junior high aged kids meeting during the 10 am service for class and on Sunday evenings for fellowship, projects and recreational gatherings, both as a parish and as part of diocesan gatherings. Our Confirmation program began this fall with a retreat at the new Diocesan Camp and Conference Center. Confirmands generally, but not always, begin this process in the 8th grade. High school aged kids meet on an ad hoc basis, including lunch with the Assistant Rector at Weston High.

Our youth regularly participate in the leading of worship as acolytes, lectors, and chalice bearers. We spearhead parish breakfasts and suppers as well.
