Parish Life

The goal of our parish life is to deepen our sense of community and mutual support in times of celebration and in times of need. Everyone’s gifts are needed so that we can together grow in spirit by addressing our own needs and aspirations and those of others.

The principal weekly opportunity for fellowship is the Sunday coffee hour in the parish hall, following the 10:00 AM service. Informal conversations provide opportunities for newer parishioners to get to know others and for long-time friends to reconnect after busy weekday schedules. Parishioners are invited to sign up to provide the simple refreshments for each Sunday throughout the year.

There are many ways parishioners contribute to worship. The Altar Guild prepares the altar for worship for Sunday services, holidays, weddings and funerals. Parishioners serve as chalicists and read lessons and prayers during worship, and others serve as ushers and greeters for the 10:00 AM and special services. The Flower Guild arranges for altar flowers for weekly worship and for special services. The Adult Choir meets weekly to rehearse and sing on Sundays and holidays. These groups have social gatherings to celebrate their contribution to the life of our parish.

Our women's group meets monthly for a potluck supper; the men's group meets one evening a month for conversation and light refreshments. Our Pastoral Team assists the clergy by visiting those who are unable to come to church, taking flowers from Sunday worship, and serving as liaison.

There are many special opportunities which help us live into that goal, including worship, education, music, and outreach. Please visit the appropriate sections of the website and the Keys Newsletter  for further details about these programs, and the Calendar for specific events.

St. Peter's Annual
Christmas Pageant

Held December 24, 2009

St Peter's held its Annual Christmas Pageant at the 3:00pm Christmas Eve service this year, due to inclement weather on the scheduled date. The star shone brightly, the angels, shepherds, wise men, Joseph and Mary all gathered in adoration and awe around the child in the manger, and the tone and spirit of Christmas fell gently on our church. Thank all of you who helped bring this wonderful event together, it is a great gift of joy and peace to our parish life!

From the perspective of our Holy Family, there was a great crowd gathered in witness.

The Parish Wide Church Supper
Held Sunday evening, November 23, 2008

From the laptop to the counter top to the alter rail...
how might we find a path to God in our daily stride.

We gathered with friends old and new for dinner and an evening program with facilitators from the Bethany House of Prayer in Arlington. The adult dinner was in the Parish Hall with separate activities for infants through teens throughout the church. We had an energizing evening in fellowship and spirit.

Church School Teachers Appreciation Breakfast
...for teachers and their families.

Each Sunday we rely on you to bring the Gospel message closer to the hearts of our children. Your patience, compassion and enthusiasm teach them more about God's love than texts and activities can alone. In addition to all the work and laughter you bring to your classes, as a group, you have been flexible, light hearted and generous as St. Peter's navigates the new church school schedules and facilities.

We served teachers and their families a warm, nutritious breakfast before church recently. Thank you!
