"Ground of your own Choosing: Winning Strategies for Finding & Creating Work"

Held Saturday January 31, 2009
9:00am-11:30am

A workshop with Beverly Ryle in the Parish Hall.

Maturing in our understanding of God and of our life experience extends throughout our lifetime. St. Peter’s strives to provide opportunities for parishioners to learn more about the faith tradition and how it applies to our lives today.

Bible Study

A Bible study group meets each Sunday in the Bidwell Room at 9:00 AM, allowing those attended the 8:00 AM service and those planning to attend the 10:00 AM service to join together. The group uses the gospel reading for the upcoming Sunday as its text. Following a reading of the text, parishioners are asked to share a word or phrase which they responded to or have questions about. Discussion then follows, with one of the clergy serving as coordinator and resource. Each week is complete within itself, and the session last approximately 45 minutes.

Book Study

A Book study group meets once a month (September – May) on designated Wednesday mornings to discuss an interesting, topical book. The title of the current book and meeting dates are announced through the Keys newsletter.

Prayer

A prayer group meets on Thursdays at 4:00 PM in the Bidwell Room (September – May). All are welcome. Please see the calendar page to confirm each date.

Sermons

The weekly Sunday sermon (at both 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM services) is intended to help parishioners make connections between the biblical story of the faith and our own life journeys. In addition to the parish clergy, guest preachers are invited from time to time. Recent guest preachers include the director of the El Hogar School program in Honduras and Bishop Zebedee Masereka, founder and leader of the Masereka Christian Foundation in its work to assist AIDS orphans in Uganda.

Special Programs

From time to time, special programs are offered. Recent programs included two Saturday morning workshops with noted transitions coach Beverly Ryle to address retirement, aging, and other life changes.

Please note times and dates for these and other educational events on the calendar.

Transitions coach Beverly Ryle led two Saturday morning workshops at St. Peter's,
Way of Transition and Transition in the Second Half of Life, that introduced participants to a process for dealing with life changes related to work, retirement, and aging. Ryle is founder of The Center for Career and Business Development in North Eastham, MA and author of the forthcoming book, Ground of Your Own Choosing.
