Church School

Mission Statement

The Christian formation of our children is one of the most important elements of St. Peter's mission. In recent years, many of the new families that have joined St. Peter's have done so out of a desire to introduce their children to a program of meaningful Christian education. We encourage you and your family to join us in this important effort as we work to bring Jesus' teachings to a new generation of Christians.

Format

Church School
meets on Sunday mornings from September to May starting at 9:45 AM concluding at10:30 AM for all children in kindergarten through 8th grade. Children, escorted together, join this main service at 10:30 following the Announcements. Yourger children gather at the front of the main aisle for a Children's Message and then join their parents. Middle School children join their families in the pews directly. Families may receive communion together. During the summer months, Church School and Choir programs are in recess. Nursery care is available for younger children throughout the year during the 10:00 AM service Children are then A children's message is typically offered by one of the clergy during the service. Children receive communion with their families and then gather in Parish Hall and third floor classrooms for a Church School lesson.  Call the church office for specific Sundays.





Church School Presentation: Bright banners and joyful voices helped the Church school children and congregation celebrate the end of the 2008-2009 Sunday School year during the June 14th 10:00am service.

Curriculum

We use a Biblically-based curriculum with a variety of approaches and activities designed to meet the needs of all age groups.

Nursery

Childcare is available on Sunday mornings beginning at 9:30 AM. The newly renovated nursery is located on the ground floor of the Parish Hall.


Ways to Participate

There are many different ways for parents and others in the parish to participate in our Church School program. If you are interested in teaching, leading a special activity, or organizing a fellowship or outreach event, please contact the Church School Coordinator.
